Kim Kardashian, Chance the Rapper and More Celebs React to George Floyd Killing: 'This Is Not Okay'

Celebrities are honoring the life George Floyd, the Minneapolis man who died after being restrained by police.

On Tuesday, four Minneapolis police officers were fired for their involvement in the death of Floyd, after footage circulated online showing one of the officers placing his knee firmly on the back of the 46-year-old man's neck as he lies face down on his stomach, next to a Minneapolis patrol car.

The man groans in pain throughout the nine-minute clip, and repeatedly asks for help. He tells the officers that he cannot breathe and notes that "everything hurts." Bystanders who shot the video tell the officers that they can see the man's nose bleeding.

"This is the right call," tweeted Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey about the termination of the officers following the Monday incident.

Floyd's death is currently being investigated by the FBI. Police had characterized the man's death in a statement as being the result of a "medical incident" before the video was shared widely on social media.

As protesters called for justice in rallies on Tuesday night, dozens of celebrities and public figures showed their support for Floyd and his family.

"You deserved your breath, your dignity, your life. Not to die in the street, murdered by a white cop’s knee on your neck," wrote Selma director Ava Duvernay on Twitter. "You deserve our tears, our prayers, our rage, our action. We must act – for you – and for all of those were no cameras are present. We must. #GeorgeFloyd."

Kim Kardashian shared a simple statement on Twitter featuring an illustration of Floyd and the hashtag, "#JusticeForGeorgeFloyd" and a broken heart emoji.

Chance the Rapper spoke at a rally in Chicago, reportedly telling gatherers, "We're not going to let this s— keep happening."

On Instagram, singer Demi Lovato called for white people to stand up against police brutality.

"This is not okay. And it will not stop until everyone does their part. Especially white people," the "Anyone" singer, 27, wrote. "I said it recently and I’ll say it again, do not let your discomfort surrounding social issues prevent you from speaking up for those IN DANGER. And reality is, until this STOPS COMPLETELY – THE BLACK COMMUNITY WILL CONTINUE TO LIVE IN DANGER."

Lovato added: "DO YOUR PART. THIS INVOLVES YOU TOO. #GeorgeFloyd, I hope you RIP because it isn’t fair so many didn’t do their part to ensure you lived in peace."

Naomi Campbell also shared her sentiments on Twitter, writing that she is "sick and tired" of "people dying needlessly."

"I don’t have the words. I’m sick and tired of this, tired of being sad about our people dying needlessly," Campbell, 50, wrote. "Harassed and humiliated in these challenging times, I thought we could come to together, but it seems like this Coronavirus has bought out more racism in a major way."

"Where does it end?" she added. "I’m black and I’m proud #JUSTICEFORFLOYD"

"This just burns," tweeted Star Wars actor John Boyega. "Seems to be a never ending cycle. The murderers need to be charged severely. Even in the face of death this man was given zero empathy. #RIPGeorgeFloyd #BlackLivesMatter #JusticeForGeorgeFloyd"

Floyd's family spoke to CNN on Tuesday night, condemning law enforcement for how they handled their loved one in his final moments.

"They were supposed to be there to serve and to protect and I didn't see a single one of them lift a finger to do anything to help while he was begging for his life," said Tera Brown, Floyd's cousin. "Not one of them tried to do anything to help him."

Pod of dolphins swim along with jetskier near Brighton

Astonishing moment a pod of friendly dolphins swim alongside a jet skier in the sea off Brighton

  • Nicholas Coleman, 31, filmed the pod of dolphins a mile from the Brighton coast
  • Two young dolphins and two adults played beside his jet ski as he rode along
  • First time he has seen dolphins off the South Coast in three years of jet skiing

A lucky jet skier was visited by a pod of dolphins who swam beside him in the sea off West Sussex yesterday afternoon.

Nicholas Coleman, 31, from Shoreham-by-Sea, filmed the ocean dwellers as they followed his jet ski in the water.

The avid jet skier took a video of the two adult and two baby dolphins just a mile off Shoreham, near Brighton, at around 1pm yesterday as temperatures in the south of England soared to nearly 80F.

Nicholas Coleman, 31, spots a pod of two adult dolphins and two babies by the coast of Shoreham-By-Sea, West Sussex, yesterday

The dolphins swim underwater in front of Mr Coleman’s jet ski after breaching the water to his left

The dolphins break the waves just a few feet to the left of Mr Coleman’s jet ski as he points out the ‘babies’ and ‘big ones’.

They swim under the jet ski and dance in front of the ski’s nose as he whoops in excitement.

Mr Coleman slows down the jet ski to avoid hitting the animals and take in the rare sighting.

The dolphins then dart to the right of the ski, breaking the waves again before disappearing into the sea.

A dolphin comes right up to the jet ski and breaches the water before diving under with the rest of the pod

Mr Coleman took the video off the coast of Shoreham-by-Sea, West Sussex, near Brighton

Mr Coleman said: ‘This is the first time I have seen dolphins of the south coast of England in three years of owning a jetski.’

Last year, members of Sussex Yacht Club, based in Brighton Road, Shoreham-by-Sea, spotted a pod of dolphins near Southwick power station.

Club member Lauren Willis saw the pod at around 9am on June 2 by her boat, while tug boaters also spotted dolphins by Newhaven Port earlier in April 2019.

What the pandemic-friendly future of nursing home visits could look like

Families yearning to visit their elderly, high-risk loved ones who are trapped inside adult care facilities might have a sleek, new solution thanks to a Brooklyn-based interior designer.

Avigail Eisenstadt, the CEO and principal designer of AE Design Group, has developed a pandemic-friendly visitation room complete with a flexible hug wall, UV lighting and lots of plexiglass to make visiting the elderly safe as New York creeps closer to a “new normal.”

“During this COVID epidemic it’s just been terrible how the residents are unfortunately getting hit hard and they’re quarantined in their rooms and within the facilities and the only way they can see their families is through a drive by window and it’s just very sad and disheartening,” Eisenstadt, 37, told The Post.

“These residents, most of them are living out the twilight of their lives in these facilities and they deserve to have a beautiful, comfortable and safe environment.”

Renderings of the design show three separate pods with plants, couches and a coffee table that are accessible from a separate entrance and are airtight with its own ventilation system.

Eisenstadt’s design includes copper fittings, which kill germs within a few hours, and tables made of a stone-like antimicrobial material developed in Spain called KRION that also kills germs.

AE Design, which specializes in outfitting healthcare spaces, developed the prototype for a Brooklyn nursing home facility after they asked her how they could bring visitation back safely.

“In between the rooms we can smoke up the glass so it’s private, we have UV lighting to purify the air and kill the germs, it’s on when nobody’s in there, as well as a sanitizing mist that will clean the room in between each use,” Eisenstadt explained.

“We put in a flexible hug wall, we still have to verify the safety of that and the feasibility, that’s something we’re working on to see if we can make it happen for them because it makes a big difference,” the mom of five went on.

“Seeing someone through a glass is great but it’s still kind of cold so if we can get that to work that would be fantastic.”

Eisenstadt said the designs are customizable based on budget but could include voice-activated technology that will allow those on either side of the barrier to converse as if they’re seated next to each other. She also has plans for an iPad-like screen that’d allow kids to make drawings to share with their loved ones.

“They’re anticipating there may be another outbreak in the fall, God forbid, we’re trying to get this in as soon as possible so people can resume some sort of normalcy when it comes to visitation but at the same time, we think this is a great thing to have in the facilities beyond COVID. There’s flu season, there’s residents with very frail health who shouldn’t be exposed to elements, people are carrying germs so we think this is something that could be beneficial in facilities long term,” Eisenstadt said.

“We’re just trying to help them reunite safely, it’s just so important. There’s nothing more important in life than family.”

John Krasinski Defended Selling ‘Some Good News,’ Saying The Show "Wasn’t Sustainable"

Many John Krasinski fans did not think that the sale of his hit YouTube show Some Good News was, well, good news, but the Office star is assuring everyone that there’s nothing to worry about. John Krasinski defended selling Some Good News to ViacomCBS, after some fans branded him a "sell-out" for moving the show from its online home to a major news network, without him serving as the host this time around.

While appearing on Hey There, Human, an Instagram Live series hosted by his Office co-star Rainn Wilson, on Tuesday, June 26, Krasinski explained that he had planned on filming only eight episodes of SGN in quarantine due to his previous writing, acting, and directing commitments. His options were to give up the show completely, or sell it to keep it going. "I would love to keep doing the show from my office forever," he said. "It just wasn’t sustainable."

Although he won’t be able to host the new show permanently, Krasinski will stay on as an executive producer, and promised that he will be involved as much as possible. "We have a lot of really fun stuff planned, and I can’t wait to dig in," he said. "I’m going to be a part of it whenever I can, and I’m going to host a couple [episodes] and bring on a different community of people. But we’re really, really excited about it."

Over the weekend, Krasinski also clarified that SGN would be available to everyone on the CBS network, not its premium paid subscription service, CBS All Access. "Have a bunch of fun stuff planned with CBS network!," he confirmed on Twitter. "SGN for everyone! See you soon!"

The YouTube episodes of SGN saw Krasinski focus on good news amid the coronavirus pandemic. This included highlighting fan videos, hosting major reunions and inviting celebrity guests to help celebrate special occasions like prom and graduation. Over the weeks, he officiated a wedding ceremony via Zoom, complete with an Office cast reunion, and had Lin-Manuel Miranda perform with the original Broadway cast of Hamilton for a young fan’s birthday. The final episode of Some Good News, dedicated to the fans, was posted on May 17.

Although Krasinski will no longer be the sole host of the show, SGN will always be something that he’s proud of. "I’ve received the most amazingly kind notes about how much that show meant to everyone, but the truth is, it meant no more to anyone than me," he told Wilson. "That’s probably the most emotionally fulfilled I’ve ever felt in my entire life." Hopefully, his dedication will be reflected whenever the show returns.

RHONY’s Leah McSweeney begs for more vodka as Ramona calls her an ‘alcoholic’ on boozy girls trip – The Sun

REAL Housewives of New York City star Leah McSweeney begged for more vodka on a boozy girls trip.

But Ramona tried to stop the new cast member calling her an "alcoholic."

In a promo for this week's episode, Leah asked for two more shots of vodka in her drink while at dinner.

Romana planned a girls' trip to New Port, Rhode Island.

To Leah's request. Romana said she's her "mother" and she's not having that.

Dorinda said during a confessional: "Romona's decided to not only mother Leah, who she barely knows, but to monitor, in a way she doesn't monitor herself.

"Like why do you care? We're on vacation. Leave the girl alone."

Backed at dinner Romana eventually relented to Leah's drink order saying, "fine I thought you were a recovering alcoholic."

In another clip, Leah asks Ramona at a bar if her sister could join them on the trip.

Ramona hesitantly replied, "if she's anything like you, I'm sure I'd like her" and invited her for dinner the following evening.

But then Romana changed her mind and said she's going to put it to a vote with the other ladies and that she can rescind her invitation at any time.

Sonja Morgan said during a confessional: "When we say we're going on a girls' trip we mean our clique of girls. We don't even know her sister.

"We would have needed to all discuss this in advance and make it like a bring your sister trip."

Cutting back to the scene at the restaurant, Romana took back her offer to have Leah's sister join them.

She said Leah is being rude and that "doesn't want her here."

In another confessional Dorinda argued: "I think it's important for Leah to have her sister here.

"She's new to the group. She's a single mom that wants to maybe hang out with her sister.

"Big deal. Who cares."

Leah, who joined the Bravo franchise this season, has been open about her stint in rehab.

The 37-year-old mom said she had been sober for nine years but started drinking again six months before filming began for RHONY.

Leah said on the show: "Me an alcohol have a very weird relationship.

"I am someone who actually enjoys like, completely like, going crazy."

Still admitting to her mom she was drinking again drove a wedge in their relationship.

Leah explained: "For my mom, when she heard I'm drinking again, it's just like a trigger to her.

"I definitely think that my mom still views me as that wild teenager. It's very hard for her to accept me as a 37-year-old woman who's got her s— together."

A previous episode this season saw a drunk Leah get naked, hurl a lit tiki torch across the backyard and then jumped in Ramona Singer's pool.

She even yelled at the cameras: "I don't give a f**k. Whatever!"

Leah also convinced Tinsley to join her screaming: “Rip it off, b***h.

“Get in the pool.”

She went on: “This is a ‘f**k you’ to your mother, this is a ‘f**k you’ to high society.

"F**k you, Park Avenue!”

U. Conn Student on Run from Police Grew Up on Same Street as Sandy Hook Shooter Adam Lanza: Reports

The 23-year-old Connecticut fugitive wanted in connection with the murders of two men and a woman's kidnapping was  reportedly raised just doors away from the home where Sandy Hook Elementary School shooter Adam Lanza grew up.

Citing property records, the Hartford Courant, the Darien Times and CT Insider all report that University of Connecticut senior Peter Manfredonia — who is currently on the run after being last spotted in Pennsylvania — lived on the same street as Lanza.

It was unclear if the families were acquainted.

Manfredonia's family has issued a public appeal, urging him to turn himself in.

Police allege that on Friday, Manfredonia left the scene of a murder in Willington, Connecticut. He was last seen wearing dark clothes and should be considered armed and dangerous.

Police said Manfredonia — described as a 6-foot-3, 240-lb. white man — was believed to be armed with "pistols and long guns" near the Osbornedale State Park in Derby, Connecticut, on Sunday. He was last seen near East Stroudsburg, Pennsylvania, at about 6 p.m. local time on Sunday.

Manfredonia allegedly killed Ted DeMers, 62, and assaulted another man in Willington on Friday after the two men offered him a ride as he was walking along a road. The unidentified man who survived the incident was described as having machete or sword wounds.

According to authorities, Manfredonia fled to Derby, Connecticut, where he allegedly killed a friend, 23-year-old Nicholas J. Eisele, before fleeing with Eisele's girlfriend. The kidnapped woman was later found in New Jersey, safe and unharmed.

In December of 2012, Adam Lanza went on a shooting spree at Sandy Hook Elementary School, killing 20 students and six educators before turning the gun on himself. Lanza also shot and killed his mother in their home earlier that morning.

Want to keep up with the latest crime coverage? Sign up for PEOPLE's free True Crime newsletter for breaking crime news, ongoing trial coverage and details of intriguing unsolved cases.

Manfredonia has allegedly struggled with mental illness.

It is possible he could be traveling in a stolen black 2012 Hyundai Santa Fe with Pennsylvania plates KYW-1650.

A motive for the violence was unknown Wednesday.

Jill Duggar: Violating Her Family’s Dress Code to Get a Rise Out of Jim Bob?!

At this point, the feud between Jim Bob Duggar and Derick Dillard has been going on for so long that it’s almost impossible to imagine the two men ever reaching a peaceful resolution.

And the conflict may have had permanently damaging effects on some of Jim Bob’s other relationships, most notably the one with his daughter and Derick’s wife, Jill Duggar.

There was a time when Jill seemed to feel that she was unfairly caught in the middle.

These days, however, Mrs. Dillard has been making no secret of the fact that she is siding with her husband in every way — even if doing so will require her to cut ties with Jim Bob for good.

There have been rumors that the Duggar daughters are united in rebellion against Jim Bob, but it seems as though it’s only Jill and Jinger who are at odds with their dad.

And as usual, the rebels are defying their overbearing father in exceedingly subtle ways:

That’s a photo that Jill posted on social media earlier this week.

“Because @twizzlers are better when enjoyed together!” she captioned the pic.

The Twizzlers might have been the focus of Jill’s caption, but as far as fans were concerned, her bare shoulders were the focus of the photo.

The Duggar dress code is one of the family’s most bizarre and best-known practices, and here Jill is, brazenly flouting it in a top that would not receive the Jim Bob seal of approval.

“She went from wearing a short-sleeved t-shirt under that romper to wearing this sports bra or tank top. Love it!” one fan remarked, as reported by The Sun.

“JB must be s–tting himself. Of course, there’s nothing wrong with wearing a short-sleeved t-shirt underneath like she was wearing, that’s something I’d wear but seeing this on a Duggar is amazing,” the commenter continued.

“She’s being genuine and authentic, which is shade to her fake ass family, and her money won’t go to support a cult.”

“Jingle and Dingle would have way more interesting content if they just relaxed a bit with the desperation and acted their genuine selves,” another commenter echoed.

“I bet her boys are happier too now. Kids pick up on their parents’ emotions from a very young age. They’ve probably never seen her like this before.”

A third commenter used the Duggars’ own language of female subservience against them:

“Jill doesn’t need to be a ‘helpmeet’ to her husband or try to please her family,” the person wrote.

“They’re all grown ass adults and capable of taking care of themselves. Her kids are the ones that really need her.”

A fourth commenter praised Jill for offering a breath of fresh air amid all the carefully-choreographed Duggar content:

“At least she’s posting whatever the hell she wants rather than hiring a PR team to make posts for her to seem more likable (read: make it easier to grift),” they wrote.

Clearly, Jill is riding quite a wave here.

Sporting bare shoulders in an Instagram pic may not seem like a very big deal, but she knew her fans would pick up on the message.

Her husband’s feud has obviously freed Jill from her oppressive relationship with her father.

There’s no telling what the future holds for the Dillard family, but it seems clear that they’re planning to live a lifestyle that’s far more liberated and modern lifestyle than the one Jim Bob had in mind for them.
